This is a PDF download of Autism and Masking in School slides. An autistic child can appear to be the perfect student in school. They might sit quietly in class, appear to be listening and concentrating, work hard in lessons, be academically able, or not. They might have a small group of friends… and yet at home the experience can be completely different. The child is completely exhausted from pretending/acting/trying to fit in and gets home and explodes- has a meltdown, or maybe they are just so exhausted they will hide in a bedroom and sleep. This product explains how masking might look in school and strategies that an educator might use that would help the child.
